Eero designed the chairs first in the mid 50’s and then the table in the early 60’s. Shortly after the series was recognized with design awards from The Design Center Stuggart in 1962, the Museum of Modern Art in 1969, and the Federal Design Award for industrial art in 1969. The Tulip chair is renown for its futuristic curves. Between 1966 and 1969 it was also popularized further by its display on the bridge of Gene Rodenberry’s Star Trek. Today, it is widely recognized as the modern classic icon in dining. Clean, modern classics. |
