We took a sharp turn toward natural & upholstered wicker insets into the doors of this wicker credenza cabinet + hutch. We also built the drawer faces and interiors from Oak to up the ante. We love the contrast of organic mixed materials used in this limited edition. We love the ample storage compartments of this full size sideboard and with the hutch combination there is plenty of room for showcasing. Color theory is a modernist sideboard with an iconic history, elevated for a contemporary home.
1955 MODERNIST ICON
This gorgeous wood sideboard originally designed in 1955, hovers over thin industrial steel tubes capped in solid wood. When reproducing this classic, we made notes on past usability & made minor adjustments. A reduction in the bank of drawers from 6 to 5 gave more useable vertical space in each. A finger groove was concealed in the drawer face smile for slip free drawer openings. We also added that black steel plate behind the drawer smile so go ahead and stack to the drawer top; the contents will remain obliviously hidden from view.
ABOUT NATURAL OAK
Easy to coordinate with other wood tones. The natural wood presents warm lighter tones. Natural Oak is a durable, clean grained wood option that mixes well with modernist furniture styles.
